Your feet are the foundation of your health.
Our neighbourhoods have a high population of people living with diabetes and the number of amputations as a result of diabetic ulcers is high. Better screening and foot care can help prevent amputations.
Even corns and calluses may seem like minor issues, but they can keep you from your favorite activities like walking your dog, playing with your kids or grandchildren, or enjoying a long hike. For Foot Sakes provides expert, fully licensed foot care to help your feet feel their best.
Take a step towards feeling better!
Whether you need expert foot care in your home, or at our office, we provide both the basic and advanced care options your feet need.
Foot health history and initial assessment
An initial foot assessment will include a review of your health history and a physical inspection of your feet.
Reducing or removing of calluses and corns
Corns and calluses are thick, hardened layers of skin that develop when your skin tries to protect itself against friction and pressure. Habits like wearing ill-fitting shoes or not wearing socks that cause friction can lead to the development of corns or calluses.
Trimming and
filing of nails
Proper trimming and filing of toenails is crucial in preventing complications for many ‘high risk’ individuals.
Treating/relieving ingrown nails
Ingrown toenails are a common condition also known as onychocryptosis in which the corner or side of a toenail grows into the soft flesh. The result is painful, inflamed skin, swelling, and sometimes an infection. Ingrown toenails usually affect the big toe.
Reducing
thick nails
Thickened nails can cause pressure sores and restricted movement, especially in older people and diabetics and they can be very difficult to cut and care for with regular nail clippers. For those people with diabetes, poor circulation or those on blood thinners, it’s more important to have their feet cared for by a professional.
Education/treatment of fungal nails
Nail fungus is a common condition that begins as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your toenail. If your nail fungus is painful and has caused thickened nails, a self-care regimen and over-the-counter medications may help but a severe case of nail fungus might need stronger medication prescribed by a physician.

Licensed Practical Nurse specializing in foot care.
When I became a Licensed Practical Nurse specializing in foot care, my goal was to keep a person mobile and help them reduce the risk of developing pain and discomfort down the line. As a nurse working in the hospital, I saw the need for more foot care options.
Many people just don’t know about the complications that can pop up from poor foot care and early education and awareness are the keys.
Looking at the history of your foot health gives me a good idea of the kind of foot care you need, whether you’re a diabetic, injured, have arthritis, pregnant, or someone who just can’t touch their toes.
Good foot care (healthy skin, nail care, and proper footwear) is important for anyone with diabetes because they have a greater risk of having problems with their feet. Once I have a good idea of how I can help you, you’ll benefit from basic and/or advanced foot care.
My services are covered by Western Health, Central Health, IFHP (Interim Federal Health Program, Veteran Affairs, and most insurance companies.
